Prospects

All about the young players preparing to enter the NHL.

The Montreal fans on HF conducted an extensive 7-round mock draft, here are the results.
10. Timothy Liljegren 9. Casey Mittelstadt 8. Eeli Tolvanen 7. Jesse Puljujarvi 6.
This is really a strong strong draft, each team will have a very different list from the next, from pick 6 on is pretty much going to be totally different for every team with guys in the 2nd round being able to fill in for 1st round.
Top 125 prospects for the 2018 NHL draft.
I’ve decided to go for a different “theme” each month, and this month is gonna be the big one, my top 200 prospects eligible for the 2018 draft. There are some overagers and unheard of prospects to most included, but that’s what you get when making a list of 200. I’ve seen ALMOST every single player on this list at least once, with some just a highlight or good word put in. Thanks for the continued support on my monthly endeavour. If you have any ideas on what type of ranking I should do...
10. Dylan Strome - Arizona, 9. Henrik Borgstrom - Florida, 8. Lias Andersson - New York Rangers, 7. Martin Necas - Carolina, 6. Kirill Kaprizov - Minnesota ...
In my day job we have a tool called a pre-mortem. We discuss what could go wrong before making a significant change to a strategy or process. I am using a similar idea here. Basically, this is a prediction of what a "re-draft" in 2023 might say. The list is of players outside the consensus top 15--because it is hard to define a sleeper that everyone thinks is among the elite. 1. Martin Kaut. He is just now making a few lists as a late first-rounder. Given his size, success in international...
Here are the top ten drafted prospects as voted on by members. 1. Elias Pettersson - Vancouver Canucks He's just a natural. Great smarts on both ends, awesome hand-eye and passing ability, controls the puck so well. No real electrifying weapons, just so very smart and so gifted, just natural instincts and knack for reading the game and creating chances. I dunno if John Tavares is a reasonable style comparison, but someone like that who hasn't got elite skating or a rocket of a shot but...
Scouting evaluation; Skating speed, edge work, shooting, puck control, offensive IQ, competitiveness, physical play, defensive play. (Those evaluations are greatly impacting the statistical evaluation, both sources of data are tested again each other in different ways.)

My top 31 picks for the 2018 NHL Draft with scouting reports for each player.
A small extract of the weighted rankings for the 1st round (higher weight put on ISS and McKenzie).
I firmly believe that this software can be a useful tool to support the evaluation of prospects, in fact, I would even go as far as to say that it has the potential to give better results than the standard way of evaluating players.
Here are my top 100 skaters for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft complete with scouting reports.
As my 2nd last ranking, I can say that this is one of my favorite classes ever. I love some of the plays and think there are some real dark horse players in here. Next month for my final ranking, it will include and in depth write up on all 217 of my projected draft picks. Enjoy, and as always feel free to ask any questions. 1. D Rasmus Dahlin 2. LW/RW Andrei Svechnikov 3. LW/RW Filip Zadina 4. D Quinn Hughes 5. RW Oliver Wahlstrom 6. D Evan Bouchard 7. D Adam Boqvist 8. D Noah Dobson 9. C...
3 months away from draft time! This is when it starts to get exciting folks. The next edition should be May, and should also come with a mock draft post lottery! As always, let me know what you think, and who you think should be higher, after all, we’re all different people and therefore see different things. 1. D Rasmus Dahlin 2. LW/RW Andrei Svechnikov 3. LW/RW Filip Zadina 4. RW Oliver Wahlstrom 5. D Adam Boqvist 6. D Quinn Hughes 7. D Noah Dobson 8. D Evan Bouchard 9. LW Brady...
Rankings for the 2018 NHL Draft: 10. LD K’Andre Miller 9. RD Noah Dobson 8. RW Vitali Kravtsov ...
Free downloadable 2018 NHL Draft Guide. I spent the year watching hundreds of hours of these prospects in actual games. At the very least, I’m just trying to give my take. I operated on the simple idea: set up a board as I see it for who I think projects as the best NHL players. I have a few international blind spots that I did my best with, but this isn't a true "draft ranking" so much as my personal board.
I've decided on making a rankings list rather than a Mock Draft this time :O. This will be where I feel players should be ranked, and yes there will be some crazy choices. I can't say I'm an expert, but... yeah I'm no expert. 1. Rasmus Dahlin D 2. Andrei Svechikov RW 3. Adam Boqvist D 4. Filip Zadina RW 5. Quinn Hughes D 6. Oliver Wahlstrom RW 7. Ty Smith D 8. Joel Farabee LW 9. Jett Woo D 10. Bode Wilde D 11. Evan Bouchard D 12. Akil Thomas C 13. Rasmus Kupari C 14. Noah Dobson D 15. Ryan...
These are my top 100 rankings. They are my own. I watch a lot of hockey. I read a lot(and I have certain people's opinions that I take into account), but these rankings are from my own observations. This is the order I would draft these guys in(as of the end of February) I just finished putting this together, so I will update at the conclusion of the Memorial Cup. Please feel free to comment....especially if you see a glaring omission(I may not have seen every player - and I also don't get...
I've seen quite a few discussions lately about whether or not the Wings should target a defenseman with the 6th OA pick. While it seems like the consensus is that people prefer a defenseman, there seems to be a disconnect whether or not it's crucial that they do so, with some people being perfectly fine with picking a forward. I've long been under the impression that it would be absolutely crucial for them to pick a defenseman with the 6th pick, because I've always thought that top pairing...
These are the results of the 2018 mock draft done by the team boards of HF. Every fan base selected the player they would want to draft based on who was still available.
This year is a strong year for the Americans overall. I can see anywhere from 6-8 players taken in the first round (4 possibly top 10-12) and a strong second round as well that should add another 8-10 names possibly getting their names called in June.
