Haha, yeah it's probably a generation gap thing, but I'm with you. I don't get 90% of what social media is supposed to be providing. Obviously selfie dude is never going to win a Stanley cup, but man the difference between the guy *living* the moment (Ovie), and the one capturing himself capturing the moment is stark. It's just so removed from the actual moment, and I don't get it.

That and the weird obsession with taking pictures of food really drive me nuts. One more step towards yelling at the clouds I guess!

This is the key to me, not in the moment. Our generation was perhaps more intune to the concept of mindfulness (and I would recommend it to anybody) and I'm continuously amazed how much individuals are distracted, continuously, in this day and age. Its like rats in a maze pecking furiously at those 3oo tweets and updates a day while driving..

Monty Python would have a whole lot of new material to work with. Oh, theres the Hindenberg crash, must photobomb that one..

jk aside pictures have been transformed by photobombing, selfies, etc.

If Ansel Adams was starting out today as a nature photographer would his mug be in half the pictures..? ;)

Damn, I didn't think anything could top the Oil, and the Eakins/MacT/Lowe era's level of an organisation deserving to be nuked from space, but this year for the Sens might have seen them clear that high bar...

Dreger Hinting at 11-11.5m for Matthews and 9-10m for Marner. Man would that ever be funny if that duo ends up costing them more than McDavid/Draisaitl

I really think TOR should wait on Marner. Even if he hits 80 points how much can really ask for? However he only gets 60 you might be able to get him a lot lower or on a bridge.

Matthews whatever. He's getting more than Eichel either way. Lock him up if you want now

Well, I'm not sure if time had more meaning. When I was growing up (70-90s), everyone's life was work, so there were still distractions, and a go-go mindset. It probably felt more purposeful, but I'm not sure it really was.

On the other hand, the idea that people are more connected now rings a bit hollow to me, and it feels more like an illusion (a reflection of a reflection in the case of that picture).

Anyway, probably (a little, heh) off topic for this board; but you're not the only one shaking your fist at it all!

Rumblings of both of them waiting out for next year before extending. I suspect Marner believes he's better than Matthews and waiting to see what the latter gets . Kind of like Drai/McD.

I actually think Marner might outscore Matthews too but with how media sells Matthews as their chosen one, it's gonna be interesting.
I also think Matthews prolly wants out haha.

"A little girl on girl crime"

Hey, is it wrong that I know that quote off by heart due to certain nieces that pretty much forced me to watch the movie...

This is not at all isolated in the world of sports btw. Wifes gfs' of players getting together a lot is seemingly a great idea until its not...Usually with it being friend fall out stuff or gossip or changing allegiances yada yada.

Theres a lot of times when I'm glad to be a male..

jk aside it is incredible the depths of harassment some people sink to. A level of toxicity that is hard to comprehend. Making those comments about somebodies stillborn baby. Special place in hell for people making comments like that.

ps important to mention though that all allegations are unproven at this point and so that the matter will undoubtedly go to court. So that we shouldn't make any conclusions on the incident.

2nd time in a short period now in Sweden where authorities (police/firemen) go out and ask people to stop taking pictures and/or videos while they are arriving at or working a scene. Not because of privacy or anything like that (they used to ask for that, but I think they have given up), no no, because people literally put themselves in the way of rescue operations. Also, instead of helping in those crucial moments before rescue services arrive they just film and take photos... I cannot even begin to understand the mindset of behaviour like that, such a shame.

Sorry for staying off topic, but I think shaking your fist is pretty justified all things considering.

I think he's just pumping up their asks to later be able to go out and give them massive cred for taking home town discounts... I hope I am wrong though.
I will believe it when I see it, Marner at $9-10M I think is completely inconceivable. Matthews is another story though, he has put up some pretty impressive Reg seasons numbers and he is obviously one of the new stars in the league, I would bet he gets Eichel money or just above.

Like Struds said yesterday it starts from the top down and the Sens are run by a nut show himself.

I do wonder if the NHL could force Melnyk to sell. A lot has and is happening under his watch and this latest case might be the final nail in his coffin.

Between Melnyk, the Asst. GM's legal issues, attendance problems and player personnel issues, the NHL should just fold the Ottawa franchise and have a dispersal draft. It is simply toxic from the head of the dragon down to the tip of the tail. Simply hold another lottery from teams 1-31. To hell with relocation, just disband the franchise.

There were a few lists of other issues plagued by that team and man is it just sad.

I assume you would have said the same thing when the oilers were struggling with a shi**y cheap owner and all sorts of problems and had to have the EIG bail them out?

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment. I didn't think I needed the sarcasm emoji, but on a forum board it can be hard to distinguish between sarcasm and a serious tone.

Ballard and the Senior Wirtz are examples that the NHL will rarely if ever do anything to intercede with toxic ownership. Its a real mess for any org when you get this nature of BS ownership. Hard to eradicate. As a league you just hope it doesn't happen or that its not common.

As bad as this is the NHL had easily worse owners in 80's 90's.
