Really happy for Skinner and Estephan two fantastic players and people hopefully they can win the Memorial Cup. Interestingly none of the three leagues top teams will be in the Memorial Cup Moose Jaw, the Soo and Blainville.

I could have sworn some of our prospect hawk-eyes thought he outplayed Wells during training camp last fall but for the obvious reasons was sent back to Junior.

For the Broncos...how fitting for a hockey team named "Broncos" from Saskatchewan won a Junior league championship this season. Pretty uplifting for not only Swift Current and the province of Saskatchewan, but the hockey community as a whole.

Isn't Estephan a free agent? I don't think he signed with Buffalo.

He is. I wonder if the Oilers might try and get him on an AHL deal, he'd be a decent option for the Condors.

Yes. If my memory serves me correctly, he attended Minnesota's prospect camp this season.

The Swift Current Broncos won the WHL title this year in the year of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. Guess who won the SJHL title in 1986 the year of the Swift Current Broncos bus crash. Yes, the Humboldt Broncos.

    Cool.

Anyone have some solid links or a link to thread on here about the impact of the CHL leagues potentially being liable to treat players as normal workers?

Seems like a good way to shrink the CHL.

    Is this a bad thing?

On a side note and not directed at you. Sports always baffles me because a big % of the fans are probably fiscally conservative/ free market/ small government/ small business/ low regulation individuals. Yet those same fans will call players looking for more $ greedy, or support the RFA rules/ salary cap and the draft. Basically, anything that is in the billionaire owners favour and against the players interest. Its so pecular that fans can be so different in how they treat players vs how they treat employees/ independent contractors in the real world. If a politician suggested half of the measures that are enacted in Sports in the real world, they would lose their lids (my income is capped at x amount?! I cant choose where I work?! You wont pay me to work?!). Its the most comical when looking at the NCAA and the US population (in particular the Souther States). Its like fans think its there money personally that is going to the millionaire players. For every $1 that a player doesnt get in a negotiation goes to a billionaire owner. I come to watch the player and the owners make money hand over fist regardless, so let the players take the $

If it means the CHL shrinking then ya it's a bad thing.

Who are the favourites in this tourney? Swift seems to have the best regular-season record of all of the teams, plus the Dub is a tough league.

I'm going to say Regina and Swift in the final. Skinner will be the difference in claiming the trophy.

So I guess SC just lost 4-3 in OT to Acadie-Bathurst. Skinner made 35 of 39 saves.

Estephan with 2 goals and 1 assist in his first game at the Memorial Cup. This guy will probably get a look at the AHL level next year.

I hope its in Bakersfield but we will probably sign another 34 yr old instead.
