Has there been some report about wanting to move on from Baertschi ? Who else do we have on LW ? We going to have Eriksson and Leipsic in constant top 6 lw roles ?

I also doubt trading his rfa rights would get us max value for him.

As I understand it, it'll come down to Baertschi or Goldy on the left side....and Goldy would fetch even less on the trade market.

Has goldy even had any success on the LW here ? Like, he's a RW...

For a very huge unknown, seems weird to get rid of Baertschi to put goldy there.

I think the 7th + Juolevi + Dipietro + gets traded in a package for one of Karlsson or Subban. Wouldn't be surprised of they took back Bobby Ryan as well and then flipped him for Lucic. Can't wait for the laughs this offseason will bring.

    Isn't he a natural LW?

He's one of those skilled Russians who plays on the off wing. I honestly don't remember his usage last season, but pretty much every single website lists goldy as a RW, and that's what he's been listed as since before being drafted.

Pretty sure he was on the LW with Horvat an Boeser. But what do I know.

If the Canacks divest themselves of 7th, I don't see how Benning keeps his job

Don't the Canucks want me and many other to spend money on them again?

Based on salary, age, and decline in play, I think Sutter actually has better value than Toews...

    There, I said it.

Edler won’t waive. Isn’t that the main reason why he hasn’t been traded already? Or is rarely mentioned in trade rumors? (Atleast when compared to Tanev).

Not sure if it’s true but a user on R/Canucks said he designed and built his dream home with his wife whose also from here, he doesn’t want to go anywhere else.

Send his ass to the minors, he can build a new home in Utica,

Whoever let this "No move clause" B.S start I don't know but it needs to be stopped, these guys make millions, one of the drawbacks is they can be traded, these babys want EVERYTHING to their advantage, its ruining the game

How about working in a "No pay" clause for the Loius Erikson's of the league?

    Turnabout is fair play

I think it’s close for Karlsson, given his age and contract status. The team that is acquiring Karlsson is obviously getting the best player but also the shortest window (4-6 years) while the team acquiring the package is getting a 19 year old (Juolevi), a 17 year old (pick), and a 18 year old (Dipietro). It’s not enough but I think it’s close. Swap Dipietro for Virtanen and that package should do it.

Of course I wouldn’t make that trade. 28 year old Karlsson is counter productive for this rebuild.

It can be a mutually beneficial tool for both player and management but I agree that it just gets out of hand. I would like to see a limit set for how many NMC's/NTC's clauses a team can carry at any one time.

JB would be stupid to trade any assets for EK, especially Juiolevvi and this year’s first. That’s WAY TOO MUCH, for a guy who we can sign for just Cap dollars in one year.

I’ll respond to both you and @CanaFan in this same post.

I think if a playoff contending team wanted EK bad enough, they would *easily* outbid our proposed offer from above, and take the risk of losing him to UFA (think - Evander Kane in San Jose).

My thought is this: IF the Canucks traded for Karlsson and IF Tavares’ agent informed Vancouver that Tavares would consider signing in Vancouver if they could demonstrate that they’re serious about winning within the next 5 years, then I would absolutely consider taking the risk.

    1) Make the EK trade at the draft or before July 1st.
    2) Give Tavares the McDavid deal (7 years instead of 8 obviously) on July 1st.

Obviously - you’d be taking a massive risk with the above scenario, but no guts no glory right?

Would I personally attempt the above? Probably not.

However - I think if the Sens moved EK, they’d get a lot more than our ****ty package.

I don’t think any package containing the 7th OA pick and Juolevi - as much as I criticize the pick - is a ****ty little package or easily beaten. Those are two blue chip pieces.

We’ll see what Ottawa ultimately gets for EK but I’ll be surprised if it’s got two pieces better than the 7OA and Juolevi. Certainly the third piece will be better than Dipietro but that’s why I think it’s only slightly too low.

And at the end of the day,Ottawa will trade Hoffman away, and resign Karlsson. And Tavares will sign back in long island.
Ottawa can not afford to loose EK.
