Can’t say I would want him in my locker room right now if my goal is to win a Stanley cup. Last thing a competitive team needs is the kind of garbage taking place behind closed doors. Looks like Ottawa will get pennies on the dollar on this one.

From a Canucks standpoint I'd offer Louie Eriksson straight up.

I wouldn't be willing to give up much for him. Hoffman is a hell of a player but his value is zero now.

Another girl that just so happened to be the wife of the captain of his hockey team. I mean that bit of context undoubtedly matters here. If we assume Hoffman is staying with her how attractive is bringing in someone to potentially create a toxic situation? Now obviously someone will end up taking Hoffman but it will 100% lower the price that he will bring back simply for the fact that it has basically taken the Sens negotiating power in trade talks out at the knees.

The other girl being the wife of the best player on the team and one of the league icons, and the mean things being apparently sustained harassment including hurtful comments about her unborn baby.

Strongly doubt the Sens get any kind of value for him at this point, but they're also better off letting him sit at home than moving him for a guy like Lucic or Eriksson.

I am not arguing that the Karlssons aren't victims here. Nor am I saying they aren't justified in protecting themselves. I'm saying they are under pretty significant emotional distress, and it just may be that they are lashing out without having all the facts. just like a lot of fans and players wives.
And for the record, if it's proven that she is guilty, and if Hoffman continues to stand by her, I hope they both pay for it.
That would have to be some pretty amazing snatch to throw away a career over. If it shakes out that way, guarantee she dumps him anyway.
But until that's proven, it remains an unfortunate misunderstanding as far as I'm concerned.

I would be okay if the Leafs took on Hoffman's contract and bought him out with Karlsson coming to the Leafs with an extension

If it turns out that whatever is said is not true; the media outlet that first ran this story is looking at a defamation law suit

    Terrible for the Sens.

Hoffman has value, but not sure of his futures or his teammates.

Interesting if it ends up not true after all the statements on Twitter by hockey wives.

No doubt Hoffman's value has dropped with all this drama coming out, but the idea that his value is "zero" or just a cap dump is so ridiculous. You guys need to put some thought into your posts.

Most people don't view him as having zero value if they are rational hockey fans. But, his value will be hurt due to the fact that a lot of teams who would be interested are going to take a pass on him now. That leaves a few teams to bid on his services, and if it becomes known that OTT has to get rid of him to maintain a semblance of locker room harmony, then OTT has no negotiating power at all. He'll go for a lot less than he would have a few weeks ago.

If your a team looking to add a good winger to your team are you gonna trade for a guy who essentially is Radioactive in the locker room? Look none of us on the boards know what exactly is going on regarding these legal proceedings but I'm sure we have all read the news and have heard radio commentary. It does not look good and the allegations of conduct are horrendous. This is a team sport and if any part of the allegations are true he basically becomes worthless as an asset IMO unless it's proven:
    • He and this girlfriend had nothing to do with the allegations;
    • If his girlfriend/Fiance had anything to do with the allegations she gets jettisoned

    Depends.

Did I know what she was doing?
    Did I help her?
Did I close my eyes and go into denial?
Did I bother finding out the truth?

I would suspect that he was confronted with this a while ago. His inaction on it as well as the ROs being issued speaks volumes in my opinion. He could have nipped this in the bud pretty quickly.

What’s likely, is that this has been going on for a significant amount of time.

There are now multiple people coming out declaring that there were issues between these two wives. “3rd party people”.

These wives have been in areas together, they’ve spoken to other players wives, and other people, been at team events, etc.

I HIGHLY doubt that the entire basis of the restraining order is on tweets and electronic communications.

There more than likely has been direct issues, whether face to face, or broken telephone-style.

But all guesses in the end.
