I had been under the impression that the Devils hold his rights until July 1. Did I miss something here?
Thank you for mentioning that. I thought so too.
correct, but guess hes able to discuss contracts
Isn't that tampering?
I think he comes off the VRL (which is where the Devils had 'rights' to him) when he turns 35 and he did it a week ago.
i cant say for sure. he wouldnt be coming to visit nhl teams if the nhl had an issue but i have no idea
Wouldn’t mind him on Calgary, but nothing more than 1-2 years.
what would teams give up to add Gusev as well?
I wish he could come to Vancouver.
Longest of shots but come to Edmonton Kovy
RNH - McDavid - X
Kovalchuk - Draisaitl - Puljujarvi
Can Edmonton even take his cap hit, though? He will probably demand a great deal of money.
Any chance the Blues could step in and snag him? Connections with Brodeur and Tarasenko. How much gas is left in the tank? What is his contract going to look like?
I think he could demand about $5-6M. I don't see him signing a vast multi-year deal, though. Most likely 2-3 years.
Depends on the money but they might be able to on one year deal. But I'm sure all conversations start at two years deal for hi,
One-year deal is not implausible, really. That could happen, but I don't see him retiring soon.
If Vancouver would kindly and honorably take their native son Milan Lucic and bring him home (with zero cap coming back), than yes it can be done.
I can understand the plight of your team, but I personally want him in Vancouver, so I'll decline.
I know it won't happen but NJ has the most short term cap space while being in a position to win the coming years.
Tavares+Kovy would have been something to see along with what they have.
To me Rangers make the most sense. In Vegas they probably don't want him.
If I'm Ovie and Kuznetsov....I try to sell Kovy HARD on signing a 1 year deal that fits under the cap. If he truly wants to win a cup, he will do it. Their offense would be insane if they could do it.
Rangers are rebuilding, not contending, though.
My guess is that they turn it around in 19/20. But you’re right, not the best destination for a cup.
