Sounds like it's in play and loads of rumors so I figured a thread was needed.

    Have at it.

Take the BPA. Build through the draft and stop with this "accelerated rebuild" nonsense

Cash it in at the draft. Take either Dobson or Bouchard, if either are available.

My vote is to keep the pick...and try to add additional picks by moving some other pieces (ie Tanev, Virtanen, Baertschi, Sutter, Hutton, Nilsson, Stetcher....basically anyone not named Boeser, Horvat, Pettersson, Demko or Dahlen).

If Dobson, Bouchard or Kotkaniemi is available then use it.

If all gone by 7 then package it for a stud like Karlsson or Subban

7th pick cant be the highest asset for Karlsson or Subban unless if they are unsigned. If they are unsigned , it isnt even worth it. If they are signed think 7th plus Boeser.

Just keep the pick. If theres an option for trading down I wouldnt go lower than 10, and Id only accept a high second or better for moving down 1-3 spots.

Id say keep it Jackie. Its really the only option for us

No reason giving up assets to move up in a grouping that are all pretty similarly ranked

No reason to gain a asset to miss the guy we want just to draft a lil later

No reason to trade it unless a steal

    KEEP IT

Keep it and leave our fate in Brackett's hands.

Trading down doesn't make sense because Benning had all year to add more picks if that's what he really wanted. No point in downgrading our pick because of that failure.

If the goal was to pick higher we shouldn't have won all those games at the end of the season which moved us from 3/4 to 7.

If we trade the pick for a player we are gambling on our pro scouts being better at analyzing talent than the other team. I sure as well wouldn't make that bet considering the recent track record.

Constantino was just on sportsnet 650 and he said theres NO chance that Dobson falls to 7.

He added that he would choose Dobson as high as 3.

6 guys projected to be available at 7 and no one has consensus on any of them. Cant believe I'm the only one who said to trade down.

If they can get Linden Vey, they should trade it for him.

I don't believe the purpose of trading it for say Hanifin is to accelerate the rebuild. To me it would simply come down to asset management. You have an asset, and have a chance to trade it for an asset that you value more, you do it as long as it still makes sense for the present/future of the team.

Obviously not everyone agrees that is the case, and that's fine, that's not even my point. I don't think this should be looked at in the same light as a "filling the age gap" type deal like Linden Vey kind of trade.

But I am perfectly happy to keep it and take one of Dobson/Hughes/Wahlstrom/Bouchard/Kotkaniemi/

At what cost? You willing to lose Boeser or Petterson for only 1 guaranteed year of Karlsson?

With respect, your poll is slightly flawed.

    Why?

Because - the 7th alone will not get you Noah Hanifin. The poll should read 7th overall + add other assets for Hanifin.

If Carolina was willing to accept the 7th alone for Hanifin (won’t happen), then the Canucks should easily take that offer.

However - if it’s 7th+ for Hanifin (the reality), then the Canucks should keep the pick regardless of who is there.

I went with trade down but only as low as 9-11 range assuming we can add another 2nd round pick or two but I'd be more than happy to stay at 7 as well.

Keep it and take either Dobson, Whalstrom, Boquivst or Hughes.

Although a part of me wants to see it traded for a piece to help us win now just to see the hilarity ensue. This is what the Benning era has turned into for me lol

Over 90% for keeping the pick and only one for trading for Hanifin and hes basically a troll or close to it somehow so really the fans united behind keep the pick well Benning looking to trade it. Hes gotta keep up his good moves lately and keep the pick and pick up a good prospect like Kotka or Wahlly or Hughes

For the record, whatever package this being farted around for Hanifin, I say we use that package to kick the tires on Karlsson instead.

See if you can bring in Karlsson before July 1st and then use a Karlsson trade to entice Tavares.
